POSITION SPECIFICATION

DIRECTOR – INDUSTRIAL ACQUISITIONS MIDWEST


Shine Associates, LLC has been retained to search, identify and recruit a Director of Industrial Acquisitions on behalf of our client (‘Company’). This person will report directly to the Executive Vice President/CIO. Ideally the candidate will be located in the Chicago area.

CLIENT DESCRIPTION
 
Our client is a privately held and vertically-integrated real estate company that develops, owns, and operates a portfolio of multifamily, industrial, and mixed-use developments.  With corporate offices in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, New York, and San Francisco, and over 1,100 employees, the firm is an experienced real estate private equity investor and manager supported by an integrated operating platform and has 63 years of experience across multiple asset classes. The Company’s current asset under management is approximately $29.7 billion.

Since inception, the firm has developed, managed, or acquired over 95,000 residential units and 32.5 million square feet of commercial space. The current portfolio includes over 53,000 residential units, 1.1 million square feet of retail and office space, and 25.5 million square feet of industrial space located in 33 markets.
 
DIRECTOR OF INDUSTRIAL ACQUISITIONS

The Director of Industrial Acquisitions is involved in all aspects of sourcing industrial buildings in Midwest markets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Source marketed and off market industrial opportunities.
  • Perform detailed underwriting for prospective investment opportunities.
  • Perform due diligence for investment opportunities.
  • Prepare and present investment memos.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Extremely detail- oriented with demonstrated ability to organize & prioritize projects, complete multiple tasks on schedule.
  • Ability to problem-solve and exercise independent judgment while displaying a high degree of initiative and accuracy.
  • Experience in Argus and Excel is preferred.
  • Understand financial analysis and modeling.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Willing to travel extensively.

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a concentration in Finance or Real Estate preferred; or a minimum of 7 years of institutional leasing/asset management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
 
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
