DIRECTOR, INVESTOR RELATIONS

Our client is an SEC registered investment advisor headquartered in Washington, DC. The firm currently manages 58 assets with $8B in gross AUM across multiple investment funds and on behalf of institutional investors. Since their founding in 2000, through a specialized build-to-core strategy, the firm has developed and redeveloped some of the country’s most recognized projects in major U.S. cities. They seek to transform communities, making them more connected, vibrant, and prosperous by employing skilled labor to create modern, technologically advanced assets.
The firm has successfully launched and is pursuing new investment vehicles in highly sought-after niche strategies including, but not limited to, data centers, medical office, and modular workforce housing.
POSITION
The Director, Investor Relations, will be responsible for the fulfillment of both external and internal components of the fund-raising process. The candidate will need to be accountable, results oriented, and extroverted with a sincere interest in networking, maintaining, and creating new investor connections. It is imperative the individual is able to garner internal and external support and contribute to the firm’s credibility and brand positioning in the market. The successful candidate should also have a basic understanding of the fundamentals of investing in private equity real estate and or the desire/ability to scale their knowledge quickly. The Director will lead capital-raising efforts for designated funds as well as support Senior Management and other stakeholders within the firm as it concerns prospective investors, consulting firms and other advisors. The Director will also be responsible for industry and prospective investor research, the completion of RFP’s/DDQ’s, new product development initiatives, and other internal capital raising support functions. The individual is expected to be involved with providing services to existing client and consultant relationships. This will include working closely with their existing investors to ensure a high proportion of additional investment capital from those clients in open-ended vehicles and subsequent product offerings. They will be expected to work with the client reporting team to update investors with traditional quarterly financial and other reports including the firm’s own research information. The firm’s investor relations team is also significantly involved in the new product development process and the preparation of targeted product offering materials including private placement memorandum and marketing pitch books. The individual must be able to provide aggregate senior level input as well as overall product marketing plans and client/consultant/prospect coverage. Lastly, the individual needs to be a team player, likeable, detail and process oriented, demonstrate leadership and management experience, have an intellectual curiosity and be a strategic thinker.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Source new clients through extensive research on investors activity in strategies targeted by the firm, including but not limited to data centers, medical office and modular housing
Servicing the existing investors and prospective investors
Collect and respond to certain investor information requests
Scheduling and attending meetings, conferences and representing the firm
Service the Consulting Firms Request
Support the completion of all due diligence questionnaire requests from the consultants (extensive work) working with and obtaining information from other groups within the firm.
Collect and respond to consultant requests for information, critical data, etc.
Supporting New Capital Raise Initiatives
Populate and update the CRM with support from the team
Assist in effort to produce the Private Placement Memorandum (PPM)
Assist in producing the Marketing Book
Complete investor due diligence questionnaires
Assist in preparing for internal Investor meetings and presentations
Provide support for investor closings when needed
Support New Product Development
Provide industry research for new products
Competitor analysis
Assist in the product structuring and understanding legal and tax issues
Compile Research on the Institutional Investment Industry
Industrial industry benchmarking
Support their ESG initiatives, including incorporating environmental, social and governance dimensions in daily business activities and decision-making.
Regulatory Compliance
Work with Legal and Compliance for review of regulatory compliance for materials produced, and have understanding of regulatory compliance issues as it relates to Investor marketing
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge Experience:
7+ years of relevant experience with investors in real estate, private equity capital raising or other alternative investment class
Investment/analysis/accounting experience in real estate industry is preferred
Excellent verbal and writing skills
Able to work independently, handle multiple priorities and apply good judgment
Exposure to and knowledge of capital markets
Ability to think and write strategically
Demonstrate self-confidence with investors, consultants, and internal stakeholders
Excellent technology skills and the ability to learn and utilize new software programs
Ability to work with and gain support of other departments in a positive way
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required; CFA/MBA preferred
